Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will make a visit to the Afghan capital of Kabul in the near future, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham told reporters at her weekly press conference in Tehran on Wednesday.

Earlier last week, Zarif met with Afghanistan's national security adviser Mohammad Hanif Atmar which they discussed different bilateral and regional issues.

During the meeting in Tehran on January 6, Zarif had voiced Tehran’s preparedness to deepen ties with Kabul and develop cooperation to enhance stability and security in Afghanistan.

In the meantime, spokesperson for the Afghan president has recently unveiled plans of Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai’s visit to Iran in order to sign a strategic cooperation agreement.

Nazifullah Salarzai did not specify an exact date for the Afghan president’s trip, but noted that Afghanistan’s peace and stability are among the main issues to be discussed during Ahmadzai’s visit to Iran.
