Heading a delegation, the Iranian veep is scheduled to meet high-ranking Afghan officials in Kabul.

The main purposes of his trip are to hold talks on the regional issues, strengthen bilateral relations and coordinate the Iranian and Afghan administrations’ policies.

In addition to meetings with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer Abdullah Abdullah, Shariatmadari is planned to open Iran-Afghanistan trade fair during his stay in Afghanistan.

The vice president will also have a meeting with the Iranian merchants residing in Afghanistan.

Earlier in January, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also visited Afghanistan, a country to which he said Iran attaches great significance.

“In a bid to have a serious share in the development of Afghanistan, a very significant opportunity is now before us,” Zarif had announced in Kabul.
