In a statement, Afkham expressed Tehran’s sympathy with the Iraqi nation and government and the bereaved families of the victims.
Afkham also expressed concern over the growth of such brutal crimes in Iraq, and reaffirmed Iran’s strong support for the Arab country in its fight against terrorism.
The Iranian spokeswoman further underscored "the necessity for effective and immediate international campaign against terrorism."
At least 60 people were killed and 200 wounded in a bomb attack on Thursday at a market in Baghdad's Sadr City district, police and medical sources said, in one of the largest attacks on the capital since Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi took office a year ago.
Later, the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
ISIL frequently targets areas where crowds gather, including markets, cafes and mosques across Iraq.
The security situation in Iraq has drastically deteriorated since June 2014, when bloody clashes broke out between security forces and ISIL militants.
The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) previously reported that an estimated 14,136 civilians died while 29,189 others were injured in the Iraqi armed conflict since January 1, 2014, up to the end of April 2015.
