Russia Denies Allegations that Missiles Landed in Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian defense ministry denied reports by Western media claiming cruise missiles launched against terrorist groups in Syria landed mistakenly in Iran.

Other Media

All Russian cruise missiles launched against terrorist positions in Syria, found their targets, a Defense Ministry spokesman said in Moscow on Thursday, commenting on a CNN report about several missiles allegedly landing on Iranian territory.

"No matter how unpleasant and unexpected it is for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley, our strikes yesterday with precision-guided weapons at ISIL infrastructure in Syria hit their targets," Russia-based Sputnik News quoted Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov as saying on Thursday.

"Unlike CNN, we don't report quoting anonymous sources, but we show launches of our missiles and the targets they hit in real-time mode," Konashenkov stated, adding that Russian drones are operating in Syria around the clock monitoring operations.

On September 30, Russia, acting on a request from Syrian President Bashar Assad, started launching surgical airstrikes against ISIL targets in Syria by Sukhoi Su-25 ground attack planes, Su-24 and Su-34 bombers.
