Iran Blasts UK for Interference over Satellite Launch

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani took a swipe at the UK Foreign Office for its interfering statement about the recent launch of Iran’s Noor-III satellite.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Kanaani said Iran has an inalienable right to make scientific and research progress, including in the field of aerospace.

He said such interfering remarks, which show the British regime's anger with Iran and its egoistic views about Tehran's advancements, will not hamper the Iranian nation's will to make scientific and technological progress, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.

Kanaani noted that the British regime has a history of adopting such hostile stances on the Iranian people.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman said despite some interpretations that stem from the unilateral desires of certain governments, under international law, there are no restrictions on the Islamic Republic of Iran's scientific and applied activities in the field of space research.

Kanaani added that Iran decisively rejects the imposition of such unconventional approaches as unacceptable.

The spokesman stressed that according to international rules and regulations, and in line with its goal to realize its rights, especially development and progress, Iran reserves the right to use peaceful technologies for scientific development and research, and in this way, it will not wait for the views of some countries that try to impose their wills and unilateral actions on others.

London's statement came after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force successfully launched the homegrown imaging satellite Noor-III into orbit in late September.

The UK Foreign Office alleged that the Qased satellite carrier that had been used to put the satellite into orbit, had used "technology essential for the development of a long-range ballistic missile system," before repeating the West's accusations against Iran's missile work of being geared towards non-conventional purposes.
