Trump’s Admission Sparks Iran’s Condemnation Over US Role in Israeli War

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US President Donald Trump’s public acknowledgment of directing the Zionist regime’s June assaults on Iran has drew condemnation from Tehran, with the Foreign Ministry spokesperson calling it clear proof of Washington’s complicity in the aggression.

In a post on his X account on Friday, Esmaeil Baqaei said Trump’s remarks expose the falsehood of earlier US denials and confirm Washington’s direct participation in the acts of terrorism and aggression against Iran.

“Remember when US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared, on 13 June 2025, that Washington had no role in the Israeli regime’s act of aggression and terrorism against Iran, insisting that it was a ‘unilateral action’ by Israel and that ‘we are NOT involved in strikes against Iran’?” Baqaei said in the post.

“That statement was an outright lie, of course; from the very beginning, it was clear that the United States was a full participant in Israel’s crime of aggression against the nation of Iran,” he added.

“Now, the US President himself has exposed that lie by openly admitting, ‘I was very much in charge of that,’ effectively confirming that Washington was actively involved in that unlawful attack,” the spokesman said.

“This admission constitutes irrefutable evidence of America’s direct involvement and active complicity in Israel’s unprovoked act of aggression against Iran. It also stands as an unambiguous acknowledgment of US responsibility for a wrongful act and a serious breach of international law,” he stated.

“The United States must be held accountable for this flagrant violation and the atrocious wrong it has committed,” the Iranian spokesman noted.

Trump’s recent remarks mark a sharp reversal of earlier US claims distancing Washington from the Israeli regime’s June 2025 attacks on Iran. At the time, US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, insisted that Israel had acted “unilaterally” and that the US was “not involved in strikes against Iran.” However, Trump has now publicly asserted that he personally directed the initial assault, declaring, “I was very much in charge of that.”

The comments came during a political speech in which Trump drew a parallel between his call for Republicans to end the Senate filibuster and Israel’s military offensive against Iran. His statement not only contradicts Washington’s previous denials but also confirms US leadership in the early stages of the aggression, which expanded to include American airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear facilities. The US president has since repeatedly taken credit for what he describes as the “obliteration” of Iran’s nuclear program — a narrative that has intensified international scrutiny over US accountability in the war.
