Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the conference “International Law under Assault: Aggression and Defense”, held in Tehran on Sunday, Gharibabadi said the European troika “removed themselves from diplomacy with Iran” through their recent actions, asserting that they had failed and were now trying to compensate for that failure in Vienna in an upcoming meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors.
Gharibabadi added that the snapback mechanism of the JCPOA had not produced the impact they had expected and that “its fallout was brought under control.”
The deputy minister noted that the Europeans were now pursuing pressure, saying this carried a clear message that “they have no interest in engaging with Iran.”
He cautioned that Iran’s situation would be different after any Board of Governors resolution.
Gharibabadi added that Iran is considering a review of its relations with the IAEA and that, in the event an anti-Iran resolution is issued, “Iran will conduct a fundamental reconsideration.”
He explained that interaction was no longer of importance to those pushing for pressure.
