In an interview with Tasnim, Velayati denounced the repeated violations of the ceasefire by the Zionist regime and its renewed attacks on Lebanon.
He said the Israeli regime has not adhered to its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, and by repeatedly violating the truce and targeting the people of Lebanon, it has once again proven that it does not abide by any international norms.
Referring to the Israeli assassination of senior Hezbollah commander Haitham Ali al-Tabatabai in Beirut, Velayati said the strike was carried out in violation of Lebanon’s territorial sovereignty.
By assassinating Hezbollah commanders, the Zionist regime seeks to achieve its illegitimate objectives by creating fear and intimidation in Lebanon, but Lebanon has demonstrated that it stands firm in the face of such actions, he said.
Velayati noted that the Israeli regime, by violating the ceasefire, proved what consequences the disarmament of Hezbollah would have for Lebanon.
“Iran has supported and will continue to support Hezbollah and the resistance front,” he underlined.
Velayati added that Hezbollah has repeatedly protected and saved the people of Lebanon and has put the occupying Zionist regime in its place.
“Considering the extent of the Zionist regime’s appetite for killing and plundering the other territories, the existence of Hezbollah is today more essential for Lebanon than bread and water,” he added.
Velayati said that based on the positions and statements of the Lebanese officials, it appears that Lebanon’s government has also realized such reality and the emptiness of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s remarks.
