Iran’s Araqchi Tells Japanese FM US Bears Responsibility to Rebuild Trust

In a phone call with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi, Araqchi reviewed recent developments related to Iran’s nuclear file and the positions of the United States and the three European countries that are part of the 2015 nuclear deal.

“It is the United States that must regain Iran’s trust in diplomacy,” Araqchi said, according to a statement from Iran’s Foreign Ministry.

Araqchi congratulated Motegi on his reappointment and expressed hope that the constructive bilateral ties seen during Motegi’s previous term would continue.

The Japanese minister reaffirmed Tokyo’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in West Asia.

He welcomed political initiatives to resolve regional and international issues and stressed Japan’s support for political solutions.

Separately, the two ministers discussed the latest state of bilateral cooperation, consular matters and humanitarian issues.

They underlined the need for continued regular consultations to strengthen the traditional friendly relations between Iran and Japan.
