IRGC to Hold Naval Drill in Persian Gulf

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy is going to stage a war game in Iran’s southern waters on December 4.

Politics

The two-day exercise is named after Mohammad Nazeri --commander of the elite commando units of the IRGC Navy who was martyred in 2016.

The war game is planned to cover maritime zones in the Persian Gulf, the Hormuz Strait, the Sea of Oman, and the Nazeat Islands --Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, and Siri.

During a visit to the Nazeat Islands in November, the commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said the IRGC Navy has reached full preparedness in the Persian Gulf’s strategic islands, highlighting enhanced defense capabilities and firm control over regional security.

Major General Ali Abdollahi hailed the security throughout all of Iran’s islands and coastal areas, saying the operational units are more prepared than ever to ensure the safety of the nation’s maritime and territorial borders, particularly in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf waters.
