Spokesman Deplores UK Support for ‘Anti-Iran War Room’

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry took a swipe at British Foreign Minister James Cleverly for supporting an "anti-Iran war room".

In a post on his Twitter account on Wednesday, Nasser Kanaani reacted to remarks made by Cleverly on Tuesday after British police sent armed forces to protect offices of the Saudi-funded Persian-language "Iran International" channel in London against what they claimed to be “threats from Iran”.

“It is incredibly important that people feel able to speak openly and honestly about what is going on in Iran,” the top British diplomat told Saudi-owned Asharq al-Awsat newspaper.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson noted that the network that the UK is hosting and supporting is actually "propagating terror and violence" in Iran, Press TV reported.

“FM of a regime which hosts & backs an Org. that's freely propagating terror & violence against Iranian nation & its nat'l security, claims to take ‘importance of free, honest & open journalism seriously,’” he wrote.

Addressing the British official, Kanaani added, “By such fraudulent slogans, you're supporting the anti-Iran war room.”

Iran’s Intelligence Ministry has designated the Saudi-funded Persian-language network as a "terrorist organization" responsible for instigating deadly riots in Iran.
