Iran’s Esmaeili Takes gold at 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing C’ships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Amir Esmaeili Vandaei of Iran snatched a gold medal in the 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.

He defeated Uzbekistan’s Shakhzod Polvonov in the final of the super heavyweight (+92kg).

The taller Iranian landed the stronger shots in the first round and he had the motivation, furthermore the power to keep the control of the final.

The Sri Lankan referee counted the Uzbek boxer after Esmaeili’s heavy punch in the second round and he became his nation’s first Asian Youth Champion since 2017.

A total of 390 boxers from more than 24 countries, including strong boxing nations such as China, India, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan competed in the competition.

The Iranian junior boxing team managed to secure one gold and three bronze medals in the 2024 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships held in Astana, Kazakhstan from April 28 to May 7.

Mohammad Mahshari in the 75 kg, Ali Seyed Sadri in the 86 kg, and Reza Khalilzadeh in the +92 kg took three bronze medals in the competition.
